Axel's take: 6.1/10

Central sightseeing access is the draw, but housekeeping and upkeep need improvement. a basic budget guesthouse near Hyderabad’s Secretariat, scored for what it is.

Deccan Comforts is a basic budget guesthouse, not a full-service three-star hotel. Its strongest asset is the location near the Secretariat, Lumbini Park and Hussain Sagar. Google reviews and Agoda guests frequently praise helpful staff and sightseeing convenience. It can work for a short, budget-conscious visit, provided you put location ahead of polish.

The compromise is inconsistent housekeeping and maintenance. Cleanliness scores are weak on Booking.com and Expedia, while 2026 Agoda reviews describe neglected cleaning and broken room fittings alongside more positive stays. One February 2026 guest reported upper-floor renovation; whether that work has finished is unconfirmed. Booking.com also lists stairs-only access upstairs. We’d skip it for a longer stay or if dependable cleanliness and step-free access matter more than a central address.

• Best for: budget travelers prioritizing location; short sightseeing stays

• Watch out for: inconsistent cleaning and room maintenance; stairs-only access to upper floors; upper-floor renovation reported in February 2026; completion unconfirmed

• Location: Convenient for the Secretariat, Lumbini Park and Hussain Sagar; location is a recurring guest highlight.

• Rooms: Basic AC and non-AC rooms; recent guests report some broken fittings and tired maintenance.

• Cleanliness: A recurring weakness, with low cleanliness scores across Booking.com, Expedia and Agoda.

• Service: Helpful, cooperative staff receive frequent praise, although experiences are not uniformly positive.

• Amenities: Listings include free Wi-Fi, a rooftop terrace and room service; upper floors require stairs.

• Fees and surprises: Breakfast costs extra; Expedia lists no parking, and Agoda says unmarried couples cannot check in—confirm before booking.
