Axel's take: 7.8/10

A practical sightseeing base with standout views, but compact rooms and downtown noise. a no-frills 3-star overlooking Guadalajara’s main square, scored for what it is.

One Guadalajara Centro Histórico is a no-frills 3-star whose biggest advantage is right outside: the cathedral, Plaza de Armas and nearby metro stations. It’s a good pick for travelers spending their days exploring rather than lounging at the hotel. Tripadvisor and Booking.com guests repeatedly praise the location and helpful staff, while included hot breakfast and free self-service laundry make the simple setup more useful. Terrace rooms offer the strongest reason to choose it: views across the historic center.

The trade-offs are compact rooms, basic bathrooms and some signs of wear. Recent Expedia guests mostly report clean rooms, though housekeeping details are not uniformly reliable. Cathedral bells and plaza activity can disturb light sleepers, and breakfast gets mixed feedback. Parking is off-site and costs extra. We’d skip it for a quiet retreat or a spacious family stay.

• Best for: car-free sightseeing; budget-conscious couples; short city breaks

• Watch out for: cathedral bells and downtown noise; compact rooms and basic bathrooms; paid off-site parking

• Location: Excellent for walking to historic sights; metro stations are close by.

• Rooms: Compact and functional, with some wear; terrace categories have cathedral and plaza views.

• Cleanliness: Generally positive recent feedback, with occasional lapses involving linens and bathroom details.

• Service: Helpful, welcoming staff earn repeated praise across Tripadvisor, Booking.com and Expedia.

• Amenities: Included buffet breakfast, Wi-Fi, free self-service laundry and a business center.

• Fees and surprises: Nearby parking carries an extra charge; confirm vehicle access and drop-off arrangements.
