Axel's take: 8.3/10

A strong Expo base, with welcoming staff but uneven room condition. a full-service convention hotel opposite Expo Guadalajara, marketed as five-star, scored for what it is.

Barceló Guadalajara is a full-service convention hotel, marketed as five-star, directly opposite Expo Guadalajara. We'd pick it for an event rather than a sightseeing-first stay. Expedia and Booking.com guests consistently praise cleanliness, helpful staff and comfortable rooms; breakfast also earns frequent compliments. The heated outdoor pool, gym and on-site dining make it a practical place to unwind between meetings.

The reservation is room condition: recent Expedia and Tripadvisor reviews describe some aging bathrooms and tired interiors, so don't expect uniformly polished luxury. A September 2026 Tripadvisor guest also reported plumbing work with brief water interruptions; ask whether that maintenance is complete. Parking costs extra, and breakfast depends on your booking. We'd skip it if fresh design or exploring the historic center on foot matters more than Expo convenience.

• Best for: Expo Guadalajara attendees; Business travelers wanting full-service facilities; Travelers who prioritize staff and comfort over design

• Watch out for: Uneven bathroom and room condition; Confirm completion of recent plumbing maintenance; Parking and some breakfast plans cost extra

• Location: Opposite Expo Guadalajara; better for conventions than walking around the historic center.

• Rooms: Comfort scores are strong, but recent guests describe some dated interiors and bathrooms.

• Cleanliness: Generally a strength across Booking.com, Expedia and recent Tripadvisor feedback.

• Service: Friendly, helpful staff receive repeated praise, though restaurant service can be slower.

• Amenities: Heated outdoor pool, gym, restaurants and free Wi-Fi; breakfast is frequently praised.

• Fees and surprises: Parking is charged; check breakfast inclusion and whether September plumbing maintenance has finished.
