Axel's take: 7.1/10

A useful downtown base, but don't expect four-star polish or reliably quiet nights. a practical mid-range downtown hotel listed as four-star, scored for what it is.

This is a practical mid-range downtown hotel rather than the polished four-star stay its listing might suggest. We'd consider it for sightseeing on a budget: the cathedral, markets and metro are nearby, and the rooftop pool, restaurant and free parking add useful extras. Booking.com and Expedia guests generally rate it good, with frequent praise for location and helpful staff.

The compromises are dated rooms, small bathrooms and uneven housekeeping and reception service; recent Expedia feedback includes both clean, comfortable stays and complaints about odors and upkeep. Street noise also appears in guest reports. The hotel's website still carries a lobby-renovation notice scheduled to end April 30, 2026, so confirm completion. We'd skip it for a quiet retreat or dependable upscale comfort.

• Best for: budget-conscious downtown sightseeing; travelers using public transit; drivers wanting included parking

• Watch out for: street noise; uneven room condition and housekeeping; confirm lobby renovation completion

• Location: Convenient for historic-center sights and metro; some guests find the immediate streets unappealing after dark.

• Rooms: Functional rather than upscale, with recurring comments about dated fittings, small bathrooms and noise.

• Cleanliness: Many guests praise clean rooms, but recent complaints show housekeeping is not fully consistent.

• Service: Helpful staff earn regular praise, although reception and problem handling receive mixed feedback.

• Amenities: Rooftop outdoor pool, gym, restaurant, free Wi-Fi and included parking.

• Fees and surprises: Check breakfast inclusion; the official lobby-work notice targeted April 30, 2026, but remains online.
