#4 of 9 hotels in Airport & 28th Street by Axel's take. Airport & 28th Street is #4 of 5 places to stay in Grand Rapids. The best hotels in Airport & 28th Street, ranked · Where to stay in Grand Rapids

Axel's take: 7.7/10

Useful suites and friendly staff, but room upkeep needs more consistency. A practical 3-star, all-suite extended-stay hotel in suburban Kentwood, scored for what it is.

This 3-star, all-suite hotel is a good fit for longer stays and families who want a kitchen rather than full-service extras. IHG now calls it Grand Rapids–Airport, though booking sites still use Kentwood. Booking.com and Expedia guests regularly praise the helpful staff, comfortable beds and useful living space. Included breakfast, parking and guest laundry make it a practical base near shopping and the airport.

The catch is uneven upkeep. Many recent guests describe clean, comfortable rooms, but others report stained carpets, lingering odors and missed cleaning; dated televisions and maintenance niggles also recur. The pool is seasonal and outdoors, not an indoor family attraction, and recent hot-tub reports mention faulty jets. We'd choose it for space and everyday convenience, but skip it if immaculate interiors or dependable spa facilities are priorities.

  • Best for: Families needing kitchen facilities; Extended-stay business travelers; Travelers with a car

  • Watch out for: Uneven housekeeping and room upkeep; Seasonal outdoor pool; unreliable hot-tub jets; Conflicting shuttle information

  • Location: Suburban Kentwood near malls, dining and the airport; a car is useful for exploring.

  • Rooms: Kitchen-equipped suites offer useful space and comfortable beds, but some furnishings and televisions feel dated.

  • Cleanliness: Mostly positive recent feedback, tempered by recurring reports of stained carpets, odors and cleaning oversights.

  • Service: Friendly, helpful staff are a consistent strength across booking sites.

  • Amenities: Included breakfast, laundry, Wi-Fi and Monday–Wednesday evening socials; gym and seasonal outdoor pool.

  • Fees and surprises: Parking is included; pets incur a nonrefundable fee. Confirm shuttle availability directly because IHG's information conflicts.
