#8 of 9 hotels in Airport & 28th Street by Axel's take. Airport & 28th Street is #4 of 5 places to stay in Grand Rapids. The best hotels in Airport & 28th Street, ranked · Where to stay in Grand Rapids

Axel's take: 6.9/10

Useful airport convenience, but tired rooms and uneven housekeeping limit the appeal. a no-frills 2-star airport-area hotel, scored for what it is.

This no-frills 2-star is a practical airport stop rather than a hotel we'd choose for a longer getaway. Included breakfast, free overnight parking and an advertised airport shuttle help the value proposition. Expedia guests frequently praise helpful staff and comfortable beds, and recent reviews include plenty of clean, satisfactory stays. The location also works for shopping and dining around 28th Street.

The catch is inconsistent upkeep. Recent Tripadvisor guests repeatedly describe stained carpets, worn fittings and cleaning misses, while Expedia feedback also acknowledges visible wear. These aren't universal experiences, but they're enough to temper the recommendation. Shuttle availability has also disappointed some guests, so confirm arrangements before relying on it for an early flight. We'd consider it for a budget-conscious overnight; skip it if dependable cleanliness and fresh interiors are priorities.

Best for: budget-conscious airport overnights; short stays near 28th Street shopping
Watch out for: uneven housekeeping; worn carpets and room fittings; confirm airport shuttle arrangements
Location: Airport-area setting near shopping and dining, rather than a downtown sightseeing base.
Rooms: Comfortable beds earn praise, but worn furnishings and maintenance complaints recur; microwaves and refrigerators are listed.
Cleanliness: Many satisfactory stays, offset by repeated recent reports of stained carpets and bathroom cleaning misses.
Service: Staff ratings are a relative strength, although recent experiences range from accommodating to unhelpful.
Amenities: Included breakfast, Wi-Fi, fitness facilities and an advertised free airport shuttle cover the basics.
Fees and surprises: Overnight self-parking is listed as free; dogs incur a surcharge, and extended parking and shuttle arrangements warrant confirmation.
