#1 of 5 hotels in Wyoming by Axel's take. Wyoming is #5 of 5 places to stay in Grand Rapids. The best hotels in Wyoming, ranked · Where to stay in Grand Rapids

Axel's take: 6.2/10

A workable budget stop, but friendly staff cannot make up for uneven upkeep. a basic budget motel off US 131, south of downtown, scored for what it is.

This is a basic budget motel off US 131, not a downtown hotel despite the name. We'd consider it for a short, cost-conscious stay with a car: parking, breakfast and Wi-Fi are included, and recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the friendly staff. Several also describe clean rooms and a perfectly functional overnight stop.

The catch is consistency. Recent guests still report broken bathroom fittings, tired interiors and uneven bed comfort; others mention cigarette smells despite the nonsmoking policy. Some reviewers felt uncomfortable around the property, although that is not everyone's experience. The indoor pool remains advertised, but past guests have encountered closures, so confirm before making it the reason to book. We'd skip it for a polished weekend away or if walking to downtown attractions matters.

  • Best for: budget travelers with a car; short overnight stops

  • Watch out for: uneven maintenance and room condition; smoke smells reported in nonsmoking rooms; not a walkable downtown base

  • Location: Off US 131 on 28th Street; downtown requires transportation, and some guests express discomfort with the surroundings.

  • Rooms: Basic rooms with refrigerators and coffee makers; recent reports mention faulty bathroom fittings and variable bed comfort.

  • Cleanliness: Many recent guests find rooms clean, but housekeeping and odor complaints make consistency a concern.

  • Service: Friendly, helpful front-desk staff are the clearest recurring strength across recent reviews.

  • Amenities: Free breakfast, parking and Wi-Fi; indoor pool advertised, but confirm availability; no elevator.

  • Fees and surprises: An incidental deposit may be required; Expedia lists credit-card payment only and a minimum check-in age of 21.
