Axel's take: 8.3/10

A strong downtown base with helpful staff, free parking and a freeway-noise trade-off. a practical 3-star downtown hotel with free parking, scored for what it is.

This 3-star Holiday Inn is a strong pick for exploring downtown without paying to park. The Public Museum is across the street, with restaurants and event venues within walking distance. Recent Expedia and Priceline guests repeatedly praise the helpful staff, clean rooms and convenient local shuttle. An indoor pool, hot tub and Burger Theory restaurant round out a useful, straightforward city hotel.

The main compromise is freeway noise: guests on several sites report traffic disturbing their sleep. Some also find the rooms and bathrooms cramped. Breakfast is not automatically included, and buffet feedback is mixed. Nearby Grand River Restoration construction is underway, while US-131 bridge work has the Pearl Street northbound entrance ramp scheduled closed through late October 2026. We'd choose it for a concert or museum weekend, but light sleepers and travelers wanting spacious rooms should look elsewhere.

• Best for: concert and event visitors; museum-focused weekends; travelers arriving by car

• Watch out for: freeway noise in some rooms; compact rooms and bathrooms; nearby river construction and highway ramp closure

• Location: Across from the Public Museum, with downtown dining and event venues walkable.

• Rooms: Comfortable beds earn praise; some guests find rooms and bathrooms tight, with intrusive traffic noise.

• Cleanliness: Strong overall guest ratings for cleanliness, despite occasional housekeeping misses.

• Service: Friendly, accommodating staff and helpful shuttle drivers are recurring strengths.

• Amenities: Indoor pool, hot tub, fitness center, Burger Theory restaurant and complimentary local shuttle.

• Fees and surprises: Registered guests park free; breakfast depends on the booking, dogs incur a fee, and nearby construction warrants checking driving routes.
