#9 of 9 hotels in Airport & 28th Street by Axel's take. Airport & 28th Street is #4 of 5 places to stay in Grand Rapids. The best hotels in Airport & 28th Street, ranked · Where to stay in Grand Rapids

Axel's take: 6.0/10

Useful kitchens and a convenient location, but cleanliness and upkeep are too inconsistent. A no-frills budget extended-stay hotel with in-room kitchens, scored for what it is.

This budget extended-stay hotel in Kentwood makes most sense for self-catering stays rather than a polished overnight stop. Full-size refrigerators, stovetops and on-site laundry are practical advantages, with shopping and restaurants nearby. Some recent Expedia guests praise spacious, quiet rooms and helpful staff, but the overall verdict is mixed rather than reliably good.

The main weakness is inconsistent housekeeping and maintenance: recent Expedia reviews mention dirty carpets, unpleasant odors and room defects, alongside positive stays. Tripadvisor adds complaints about cleanliness and service. The hotel's own site confirms limited reception hours and extra charges for cookware, dishes and interim linen exchanges. We'd consider it for a practical longer stay if those compromises suit; we'd skip it for dependable cleanliness or late-night arrival.

  • Best for: Budget-conscious self-caterers; Longer stays near Kentwood shopping

  • Watch out for: Uneven cleanliness and maintenance; Limited front-desk hours; Kitchenware and interim linen-exchange charges

  • Location: Convenient for Centerpointe and Woodland malls, nearby restaurants and Calvin University.

  • Rooms: Practical kitchen-equipped studios; guests praise space but also report dated interiors and maintenance defects.

  • Cleanliness: Clean-room praise coexists with recurring complaints about carpets, odors and incomplete cleaning.

  • Service: Staff receive friendly-service praise, but availability and problem handling are inconsistent; confirm arrival arrangements.

  • Amenities: Full kitchens, free Wi-Fi, guest laundry and pet-friendly rooms; cooking and dining packs cost extra.

  • Fees and surprises: Budget for pet fees and optional kitchenware or interim linen exchanges; an incidental deposit may apply.
