Axel's take: 7.4/10

A practical airport stop with helpful staff, but rooms need updating. an older, full-service mid-range airport hotel, scored for what it is.

This is an older, full-service mid-range airport hotel, not the upscale stay its four-star listing might suggest. We'd consider it for an early flight or a short business trip: Hilton confirms a free, 24-hour airport shuttle, and Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise helpful staff, clean rooms and the food at Ganders. Free overnight parking, an indoor pool and a gym round out a useful stopover package.

The main compromise is condition. Recent guests across several sites describe tired furnishings and dated interiors; some also report loud air-conditioning or bathroom maintenance problems. Cleanliness earns plenty of praise, though reports are not uniformly positive. Breakfast costs extra, and refrigerators are not consistent across rooms. We'd skip it for a polished four-star experience or a downtown-focused visit, but its airport convenience remains persuasive.

• Best for: early-flight departures; short business stays; travelers with a car

• Watch out for: dated furnishings and uneven maintenance; air-conditioning noise in some rooms; breakfast extra; refrigerators vary by room

• Location: Convenient for GRR and 28th Street businesses; downtown requires a drive.

• Rooms: Often described as comfortable but dated; confirm a refrigerator and report noisy air-conditioning promptly.

• Cleanliness: Recent reviews frequently praise clean rooms, alongside some bathroom and housekeeping complaints.

• Service: Helpful staff and shuttle drivers are recurring strengths, with occasional poor problem handling.

• Amenities: Indoor pool, gym, Ganders restaurant and bar; complimentary airport shuttle requires scheduling with the front desk.

• Fees and surprises: Breakfast and pets cost extra; long-term airport parking uses a separate Park & Fly package.
