Novotel Surfers Paradise is an older 4-star high-rise whose biggest selling point is convenience: the beach, tram, restaurants and Paradise Centre shops are close by. We'd pick it for an active Gold Coast break rather than a polished resort stay. Recent Expedia and Accor guests regularly praise helpful staff, comfortable beds and clean rooms; ocean-view rooms earn particular enthusiasm.
The trade-offs are real. Tripadvisor guests repeatedly describe dated interiors, nightlife noise and uneven housekeeping. The hotel confirms ongoing façade and lift upgrades, with longer lift waits; the pool and hot tub currently open only 4–10pm on weekdays, except Queensland school holidays and public holidays. The sports court is closed outside school holidays during works. Parking costs extra and isn't guaranteed. We'd skip it for light sleepers or families counting on daytime pool access.
