Axel's take: 8.4/10

Strong service and Nile views make this a comfortable base, but not a quiet one. a full-service 5-star Nile-side hotel and casino, scored for what it is.

Sheraton Cairo is a large, full-service 5-star hotel and casino on the Nile’s west bank, and a strong pick for travelers who want comfortable rooms and plenty of dining options. Recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise the helpful staff, cleanliness and generous breakfast. Nile-view balconies are a particular draw, while the outdoor pool provides a welcome break between sightseeing trips.

The main compromise is noise: guests on Tripadvisor and Trip.com report traffic horns, sometimes even on high floors. Marriott highlights its transformed North Tower, but guest feedback still suggests room finishes vary, so confirm your room category rather than assuming every room looks equally fresh. Parking costs extra, and lounge access needs checking for everyone in your party. We'd skip it if peaceful surroundings and uniformly polished luxury are priorities.

• Best for: sightseers wanting Nile views; business travelers; travelers who prefer dining on-site

• Watch out for: traffic noise even on higher floors; varying room finishes; club access restrictions

• Location: West-bank Nile setting in Dokki; useful for central Cairo, but surrounding traffic is busy.

• Rooms: Comfortable and often spacious; confirm the view, balcony and room category before booking.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength in recent Expedia reviews, supported by many Tripadvisor guests.

• Service: Friendly, helpful staff earn repeated praise across several sites.

• Amenities: Outdoor adult and children's pools, gym, casino, multiple restaurants and a club lounge.

• Fees and surprises: Parking is charged and spaces are limited; confirm breakfast and lounge inclusions for all guests.
