Axel's take: 7.0/10

A workable budget base with helpful staff, but choose your room carefully. A basic independent 3-star in Mohandessin, scored for what it is.

Salma is a basic independent 3-star in residential Mohandessin, better suited to a practical Cairo stay than a sightseeing splurge. We'd consider it for straightforward accommodation near neighborhood shops and restaurants. Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise helpful staff, while Booking.com rates cleanliness more favorably than the hotel's dated appearance might suggest. Breakfast, a restaurant and a rooftop terrace cover the essentials.

The catch is uneven room condition: guests describe refurbished upper-floor rooms alongside tired accommodation, so request a renovated room rather than assuming every room matches. An Expedia guest in 2025 found the beds uncomfortable, and Booking.com's weak Wi-Fi rating makes this a poor choice for dependable remote work. We'd skip it if consistent comfort or walking straight to the major sights matters most.

• Best for: Budget-conscious short stays; Travelers visiting Mohandessin or Dokki

• Watch out for: Uneven room condition; Weak Wi-Fi ratings; Transport needed for major sights

• Location: Residential Mohandessin, with nearby shops and restaurants; not a pyramids-side hotel.

• Rooms: Simple air-conditioned rooms; guest reports favor refurbished upper floors over older rooms.

• Cleanliness: Generally encouraging recent feedback, though historical ratings are less consistent.

• Service: Helpful reception staff are a recurring strength across Tripadvisor and Expedia reviews.

• Amenities: Breakfast, restaurant, room service and rooftop terrace; do not count on reliable Wi-Fi.

• Fees and surprises: Confirm transfer charges and lift access directly; booking sites give conflicting elevator information.
