Axel's take: 6.7/10

Useful location and roomy suites, but too inconsistent for dependable five-star comfort. a large, older five-star-listed city hotel in Dokki, scored for what it is.

Pyramisa is a large, older five-star-listed hotel in Dokki, near the Nile rather than the pyramids. We'd consider it for spacious suites and access to central Cairo, not polished luxury. Booking.com guests are broadly enthusiastic about staff and breakfast, but Tripadvisor and Expedia paint a more uneven picture. Restaurants, a pool and a spa give it useful full-service appeal.

The main compromise is consistency: recent guests repeatedly describe worn bathrooms, patchy housekeeping, slow requests and nighttime music. Expedia lists a 2025 room renovation, yet September–October 2026 reviews still report maintenance problems. An October Tripadvisor guest also reports ongoing renovation work; September Expedia guests flag elevator outages. Confirm the work and lift situation before booking, and request an updated room away from entertainment. We'd skip it for a quiet break or reliably five-star service.

• Best for: families needing multi-bedroom suites; sightseers prioritizing central Cairo access

• Watch out for: nighttime music and traffic noise; uneven housekeeping and bathroom maintenance; reported renovation work and elevator outages

• Location: Dokki base near the Nile and metro; not a pyramids-area hotel.

• Rooms: Spacious suite options; renovation claims do not eliminate recurring reports of dated bathrooms.

• Cleanliness: Strong Booking.com scores contrast with repeated recent housekeeping complaints elsewhere.

• Service: Many guests praise individual staff, but slow check-in and unanswered requests recur.

• Amenities: Restaurants, outdoor swimming and a spa are advertised; confirm facilities available during renovation.

• Fees and surprises: Check whether breakfast and taxes are included; confirm renovation disruption and working elevators.
