Axel's take: 9.2/10

Excellent rooms and genuinely helpful staff make this stadium hotel more than a football novelty. a small 4-star hotel inside Hearts’ football stadium, scored for what it is.

Tynecastle Park Hotel is a small 4-star inside Hearts’ football stadium, and we'd choose it for comfort and service, not just the football connection. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise spotless, spacious rooms, enormous comfortable beds and staff who make people feel welcome. Booking.com’s strong cleanliness and service scores reinforce that picture. Breakfast is another consistent highlight, making this a particularly strong pick for Hearts supporters and Murrayfield visitors.

The main compromises are practical. Gorgie is outside the sightseeing centre, so expect buses or taxis rather than Old Town on your doorstep. Roseburn rooms have no windows: their live-feed screens aren't real pitch views, so choose Plaza for daylight. Skyline serves breakfast daily, but normally offers lunch and dinner only Friday and Saturday, with selected extra dates. We'd skip it if central walkability or dinner onsite every evening is essential.

  • Best for: Hearts supporters; Murrayfield event visitors; Couples prioritizing comfort over a central address

  • Watch out for: Windowless Roseburn rooms; Bus or taxi rides for central sightseeing; Limited Skyline lunch and dinner days

  • Location: In Gorgie, inside Tynecastle Park; convenient for stadium visits, less convenient for walking between central sights.

  • Rooms: Modern, well-equipped rooms with exceptionally large beds; choose Plaza rather than Roseburn for natural daylight.

  • Cleanliness: Consistently strong across sources, with repeated praise for spotless rooms.

  • Service: Warm, helpful staff are the clearest recurring strength across guest reviews.

  • Amenities: Air conditioning, free Wi-Fi, Skyline Restaurant and a club lounge; lunch and dinner normally run Friday–Saturday.

  • Fees and surprises: Expedia lists no onsite parking; breakfast inclusion depends on the booking, and Edinburgh’s visitor levy applies to eligible stays.
