#6 of 7 hotels in Murrayfield & Corstorphine by Axel's take. Murrayfield & Corstorphine is #7 of 7 places to stay in Edinburgh. The best hotels in Murrayfield & Corstorphine, ranked · Where to stay in Edinburgh

Axel's take: 6.7/10

Helpful staff and practical parking, but tired rooms make this a qualified pick. a basic, guesthouse-style budget hotel near Murrayfield, scored for what it is.

Twin Lions is a basic, guesthouse-style budget hotel near Murrayfield, best treated as a practical overnight stop rather than a holiday highlight. Free parking, a bus stop outside and access to the stadium and Edinburgh Zoo are its strongest draws. Recent Expedia guests repeatedly praise welcoming staff, with several finding the rooms clean and comfortable. We'd consider it for a short event stay if the price is competitive.

The accommodation is less convincing: Tripadvisor and Hotels.com reviews repeatedly describe dated furnishings, small rooms and maintenance shortcomings, while several Tripadvisor guests mention thin walls. Cleanliness feedback is mixed rather than uniformly poor. Crucially, some rooms share bathrooms—the hotel's own room descriptions confirm this—so choose carefully. We'd skip it for a quiet retreat, a polished city break or a longer stay where room comfort matters most.

  • Best for: Murrayfield event-goers; Drivers wanting free parking; Short stays with modest expectations

  • Watch out for: Some rooms have shared bathrooms; Dated rooms and uneven upkeep; Thin walls reported by several guests

  • Location: Useful for Murrayfield and Edinburgh Zoo, with a bus stop outside; not a central Old Town base.

  • Rooms: Basic and often described as small and dated; private-bathroom and shared-bathroom categories both exist.

  • Cleanliness: Recent Expedia guests often praise clean rooms, but Tripadvisor reports recurring dust and housekeeping lapses.

  • Service: Helpful, welcoming staff are the most consistent strength across the major review sites.

  • Amenities: Free Wi-Fi, free parking and breakfast available; no lift, so confirm suitable room access directly.

  • Fees and surprises: Check bathroom type and breakfast inclusion before booking; parking is free but guests describe limited space.
