This full-service 4-star on the Royal Mile is a strong pick for seeing Edinburgh on foot without sacrificing comfort. Booking.com and Expedia guests consistently praise the central location, comfortable beds, spacious rooms and helpful staff, with cleanliness another clear strength. The indoor pool, sauna, steam room and gym give it more substance than a sightseeing base with a good address.

You do pay for that location, and the finish is not uniformly fresh: some recent guests flag worn carpets. Tripadvisor reviews also show that nearby nightlife can disturb certain rooms, although others report surprisingly quiet nights.
