Hotels in Detroita historic mid-range boutique inn in Detroit’s museum district
8.1/10
Victorian character and a standout museum location, with renovation trade-offs.
The Inn on Ferry Street is a mid-range boutique inn spread across restored Victorian houses in Midtown, rather than a conventional hotel. It’s a strong pick for museum weekends and Wayne State visits: the DIA and QLine are close, and recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise welcoming staff, comfortable rooms and architectural character. Cleanliness feedback is largely positive, though some furnishings and carpets need attention.
The main catch is the ongoing 2026 renovation, including a new full-service restaurant; September guests confirm work remains underway. Don’t count on the breakfast described in older reviews: the hotel currently says it isn’t included. A nightly destination fee covers parking, Wi-Fi and refreshments. Confirm your building’s stair-free access before booking, since elevator access is limited. We’d skip it if you need full hotel facilities or a reliably finished, renovation-free stay.

Best for: museum-focused weekend breaks; Wayne State visitors; travelers who prefer historic character
Watch out for: ongoing renovation and restaurant construction; breakfast not currently included; limited elevator access
Location: Excellent for the DIA, nearby museums and Wayne State; QLine access for downtown.
Rooms: Individual period-style rooms; comfortable beds draw praise, but worn carpets and uneven temperature control recur.
Cleanliness: Recent feedback is mostly positive; some older reviews report housekeeping lapses.
Service: Recent guests frequently praise helpful staff; stayover housekeeping is every two days.
Amenities: Common sitting areas, outdoor spaces and refreshments; no gym, spa or pool.
Fees and surprises: Nightly destination fee includes parking and Wi-Fi; renovation continues and breakfast is not included.
