Axel's take on Tokyo Disney Resort: #11 of 11 in Tokyo, 5.3/10
Stay for consecutive Disney days, not as your only Tokyo base. Good hotels and plentiful resort activities suit park days, but the weakest citywide access and limited independent neighborhood character put it last.
Stay here for back-to-back park days, not general Tokyo sightseeing. Maihama and the Disney Resort Line connect the resort's transport network, with Disneyland, DisneySea and Ikspiari supplying the day's activities, shopping and dining. The appeal is an easier morning start and a shorter return when everyone is exhausted; DisneySea also gives couples a reason to consider it.
Reaching Tokyo Station is only the beginning of many city journeys, not the end. You still have the transfer through the station and onward travel. For a mixed itinerary, split your stay rather than commuting from Maihama every day. Skip it unless the parks are a central reason for your trip.
- Best for: families, couples
- Skip it if: Disney is only a single-day outing; You want independent neighborhood dining and nightlife
- Getting around: JR Keiyo and Musashino services reach Maihama; the Disney Resort Line distributes visitors around the parks, so not every address is a simple walk. HND and NRT have airport buses; rail requires changes, usually via Tokyo Station.
- After dark: Evenings revolve around the parks, Ikspiari and resort dining rather than an independent late-night neighborhood scene.
- Rates: Typical Axel rate $276 a night
