Lajpat Nagar gives you Central Market's clothes shopping, snack stops and busy pavements; Defence Colony swaps that market intensity for a more residential setting and a compact restaurant district. Delhi Tourism specifically highlights Lajpat's street food and Defence Colony's restaurants, bars and boutiques. Choose the former for market life and the latter for a more leisurely dinner routine.

This is a strong second-visit choice, though first-timers willing to use the Metro can do well too. Major monuments still require journeys, and the two neighborhoods should not be treated as one seamless stroll. The Jangpura side is useful for Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium outings.
