Axel's take on Main Street Pier & Boardwalk: #1 of 6 in Daytona Beach, 6.2/10
The easiest first-visit base, with entertainment outside and occasional noise to match. It wins on seaside character and access to familiar attractions, but hotel quality and value are less convincing, and event noise matters.
Stay here for Daytona's most straightforward beach-and-entertainment break. Around Main Street and Ocean Avenue, the pier, classic arcade, Bandshell and Ocean Center put much of the familiar visitor action within walking distance. This is an old-fashioned seaside strip rather than a polished resort town.
Main Street's motorcycle bars are part of the appeal, not background decoration: Bike Week and Biketoberfest can change the whole feel. Choose somewhere farther north or south if sleep matters more than doorstep entertainment. The Boardwalk expansion reported in October 2026 remains a future project, not a completed new attraction.
- Best for: first-time visitors, travelers without a car, nightlife, business trips and conventions
- Skip it if: You need reliably quiet nights; You want a secluded beach retreat
- Getting around: Walk to the pier, Bandshell and Ocean Center; VoTran 19 and night route 70 serve the beachside transit hub; from DAB, take 18 then 19 at Transfer Plaza or a taxi; from MCO/SFB, use a prebooked shuttle or rental car.
- After dark: Main Street bars and scheduled Bandshell events bring activity; recent forum contributors say the Boardwalk becomes quieter once shops close.
- Rates: Typical Axel rate $128 a night · usually 11% under the public rate

How to choose
- Choose Daytona Grande Oceanfront Resort if spacious contemporary rooms and an infinity pool justify one of the pricier stays here.
- Choose Boardwalk Inn and Suites if you want cheaper beachfront rooms with microwaves and can tolerate maintenance hiccups.
- Choose Hilton Vacation Club Daytona Beach Regency if you need cooking facilities for a longer stay and can work around renovations.
What paying more buys
Daytona Grande buys spacious contemporary rooms and an infinity pool over the cheaper Boardwalk Inn and Suites' simpler motel setup. Both offer direct beach access, so the upgrade is mainly comfort and pool time, not access to the sand. It is less worthwhile if you will spend most days out; both also add fees. Typical rates with Axel here run from $82 a night at Boardwalk Inn and Suites to $197 at Daytona Grande Oceanfront Resort (last 30 days).
