Axel's take: 8.9/10

A strong beachfront choice for space and self-catering, with hotel-style extras that cost more. An upscale beachfront condo resort with apartment-sized residences, scored for what it is.

Max Beach Resort is an upscale beachfront condo resort, not a conventional three-star hotel. We'd pick it for a family beach trip or longer stay: the spacious residences have full kitchens, washers and dryers, and generous terraces. Recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise cleanliness, helpful staff and ocean views, while Booking.com guests also highlight the well-equipped gym. The beachfront pool, hot tub and rooftop lounge give it more appeal than a standalone rental.

The catch is the service model and extras. Daily housekeeping isn't included; the hotel provides a complimentary full clean on the fifth day, with earlier service costing extra. There's also a daily resort fee and separate parking charges. Check the precise view category rather than assuming ocean view means oceanfront. We'd skip it if daily servicing and an all-in bill matter more than apartment space.

  • Best for: Families wanting separate bedrooms; Longer self-catering beach stays; Travelers who value a well-equipped gym

  • Watch out for: Resort fee plus separate parking charges; No included daily housekeeping; Ocean-view and oceanfront categories differ

  • Location: Direct beach access; better suited to beach-focused stays than a busy promenade outside the door.

  • Rooms: Large condo-style residences with full kitchens, in-unit laundry and furnished terraces; choose the view category carefully.

  • Cleanliness: A consistent strength in recent guest feedback, with especially strong Expedia cleanliness ratings.

  • Service: Staff earn repeated praise; reception runs from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., with late arrivals requiring arrangements.

  • Amenities: Oceanfront pool and hot tub, rooftop gym and games lounge, plus an on-site restaurant and bar.

  • Fees and surprises: Daily resort fee, paid parking and an incidental deposit; extra cleaning and towel exchanges can also cost more.
