#8 of 9 hotels in Daytona Beach Shores by Axel's take. Daytona Beach Shores is #5 of 6 places to stay in Daytona Beach. The best hotels in Daytona Beach Shores, ranked · Where to stay in Daytona Beach

Axel's take: 6.8/10

Beachfront value and friendly staff, but upkeep is the compromise. a no-frills beachfront hotel with a pool, scored for what it is.

Emerald Shores is a no-frills beachfront hotel, not a full-service resort. We'd consider it for a budget beach break: direct sand access and oceanfront balconies are the main attractions, and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the helpful front desk. Free parking and a basic continental breakfast add practical value. Choose an oceanfront room specifically; not every room has that view.

The catch is inconsistent upkeep. Recent Expedia and Tripadvisor reviews describe tired bathrooms, worn furnishings and pool-area maintenance problems, while cleanliness reports range from reassuring to poor. The owner reported updated flooring and furniture in March 2026, but later complaints suggest that hasn't resolved everything. Hot-tub complaints recur, so don't make that the reason you book. It's workable for beach-first travelers; we'd skip it if reliable housekeeping and well-maintained facilities matter most.

  • Best for: budget-minded beachgoers; travelers prioritizing an oceanfront balcony

  • Watch out for: uneven cleanliness and maintenance; recurring hot-tub complaints; basic cold breakfast

  • Location: Directly on the beach in Daytona Beach Shores; the oceanfront setting is its strongest asset.

  • Rooms: Oceanfront balconies and kitchenette options appeal, but guests still report dated finishes and bathroom problems.

  • Cleanliness: Many guests report clean rooms, but recent complaints make consistency a concern.

  • Service: Friendly, helpful front-desk staff earn repeated praise; housekeeping follow-through is less dependable.

  • Amenities: Outdoor pool, hot tub, free Wi-Fi and continental breakfast; pool-area upkeep receives mixed reports.

  • Fees and surprises: Parking is included; Expedia lists a spring-break cash deposit for guests under 25 staying March–April.
