#8 of 9 hotels in Silver Beach & South Oceanfront by Axel's take. Silver Beach & South Oceanfront is #3 of 6 places to stay in Daytona Beach. The best hotels in Silver Beach & South Oceanfront, ranked · Where to stay in Daytona Beach

Axel's take: 7.3/10

Good beachfront value, but refreshed rooms don't guarantee a trouble-free stay. a budget beachfront hotel with refreshed rooms and an outdoor pool, scored for what it is.

Aku Tiki is a budget beachfront hotel we'd consider for an uncomplicated beach break, rather than a polished resort stay. Direct beach access, oceanfront balconies and an outdoor pool are its strongest selling points. Recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests often praise the refreshed rooms and friendly staff, while some rooms add kitchenettes useful for longer stays. It's a reasonable pick if beach time matters more than full-service consistency.

The trade-offs are uneven housekeeping, lingering maintenance complaints and extras that weaken the value. Booking.com and Tripadvisor guests describe slow check-ins and inconsistent cleaning, although plenty report clean, comfortable rooms. Parking and breakfast cost extra, and several winter guests found the advertised heated pool cold. We'd skip it if dependable housekeeping and reliably working amenities are priorities.

  • Best for: budget-minded beachgoers; families wanting kitchenette rooms; travelers prioritizing ocean views

  • Watch out for: parking and breakfast cost extra; inconsistent housekeeping and maintenance; pool-heating complaints

  • Location: Direct beach access south of the Boardwalk; a car helps for exploring beyond the beachfront.

  • Rooms: Recent guests praise refreshed interiors; choose carefully between city-view, ocean-view and oceanfront rooms.

  • Cleanliness: Many clean-room reports, but recurring complaints about missed cleaning and odors prevent an unqualified endorsement.

  • Service: Friendly staff earn frequent praise, though check-in delays and inconsistent follow-through also recur.

  • Amenities: Outdoor pool, gym and Trader's Restaurant; confirm pool heating and restaurant hours before relying on them.

  • Fees and surprises: Paid parking, breakfast charges and a refundable incidental hold; early check-in and late checkout can cost extra.
