Axel's take: 8.2/10

A stylish central base, but warm rooms can undermine the comfort. a design-led 4-star boutique hotel near Copenhagen’s City Hall Square, scored for what it is.

Bella Grande is a four-star boutique hotel near City Hall Square, with Italian-inspired interiors and a lively restaurant rather than a hushed luxury atmosphere. We’d pick it for a Copenhagen city break where walkability, design and friendly service matter most. Booking.com and Expedia guests consistently praise the location, comfortable beds and helpful staff; cleanliness also scores well. The renovated rooms give this historic building plenty of character.

The main compromise is temperature: recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly report no air-conditioning and stuffy atrium-facing rooms, sometimes even outside summer. Noise and limited storage are other recurring drawbacks. Reserve ahead for Donna, and ask about room orientation before booking. Guests reported construction opposite in 2026, though its current status is unconfirmed. We’d skip it if cool, quiet nights are non-negotiable.

• Best for: design-minded couples; walkable city breaks; restaurant-focused travelers

• Watch out for: No air-conditioning; atrium rooms can overheat; Room-dependent noise and limited storage; Construction opposite reported in 2026; check status

• Location: Excellent sightseeing base near City Hall Square, the metro, shopping and Tivoli.

• Rooms: Stylish interiors and comfortable beds; storage, ventilation and noise vary by room.

• Cleanliness: Strong overall ratings on Booking.com and Expedia, without a dominant recurring cleanliness concern.

• Service: Helpful, welcoming reception staff are a consistent strength across review sites.

• Amenities: Donna restaurant, breakfast buffet, a 24-hour gym and paid bike rental; wellness partners are off-site.

• Fees and surprises: Paid off-site parking; possible card fees; most rooms lack fridges, and kettles are available on request.
