Axel's take: 8.9/10
A strong luxury choice for spacious rooms and attentive service, rather than cutting-edge design. a traditional five-star luxury hotel beside Hibiya Park and Ginza, scored for what it is.
The Peninsula Tokyo is a traditional five-star luxury hotel beside Hibiya Park, with Ginza within walking distance and direct subway access. It’s a strong pick if generous rooms and attentive service matter more than the newest interiors. Booking.com and Expedia guests consistently praise cleanliness, comfortable beds and helpful staff; the separate dressing areas are a particularly practical luxury. The indoor pool, spa and gym round out a convincing city base.
The main compromise is age: some recent guests find the décor and room controls dated, even while praising comfort. Breakfast also draws mixed feedback, including repeated disappointment on Ikyu, and service occasionally falls short of luxury expectations. Renovation plans were announced in August 2026, but I couldn’t verify a work schedule; check before booking. We’d skip it if contemporary design or a standout hotel breakfast is central to your stay.
