Pendry Chicago is a luxury boutique-style hotel in the Art Deco Carbide & Carbon Building, and we'd pick it for a stylish city break rather than a quiet retreat. The Riverwalk and Millennium Park are close, while Venteux, Bar Pendry and rooftop Château Carbide give it plenty of evening appeal. Expedia and Booking.com guests consistently praise comfortable beds, cleanliness and welcoming staff; the overall guest verdict remains strongly positive.

The main compromise is noise: recent Expedia and Tripadvisor reviews describe intrusive traffic and sirens, sometimes even on higher floors. Request a quieter room away from Michigan Avenue, without assuming height alone solves it. Some recent guests also report uneven maintenance and service, disappointing at this level. Factor in the nightly destination fee and separately charged valet parking. We'd skip it if undisturbed sleep is your first priority.
