Axel's take: 7.7/10

A practical airport overnight, with friendly staff but basic, sometimes cramped rooms. a no-frills 3-star within walking distance of Cartagena airport, scored for what it is.

Casa Cano is a no-frills 3-star in Crespo whose strongest selling point is the short walk to Cartagena’s airport. It’s a good pick for a late arrival or early departure rather than a hotel to build your holiday around. Booking.com and Expedia guests consistently praise the helpful staff, and many describe clean, functional rooms and good value. Air conditioning and a garden courtyard add some comfort to the simple setup.

The compromises are small rooms and bathrooms, recurring comments about hard mattresses, and occasional housekeeping or maintenance lapses. Recent feedback is mostly positive, but room condition is less dependable than the welcome. Breakfast gets compliments; check whether your booking includes it. We’d choose it for a practical stopover and skip it for spacious comfort or sightseeing on foot: the historic center requires a ride.

• Best for: early flights and late arrivals; budget-conscious airport stopovers; short, practical stays

• Watch out for: small rooms and bathrooms; hard mattresses; historic center requires transport

• Location: A few minutes’ walk from the airport in Crespo; not a walkable historic-center base.

• Rooms: Basic air-conditioned rooms with private bathrooms; size and mattress comfort draw recurring criticism.

• Cleanliness: Generally positive feedback, with some recent reports of housekeeping and bathroom upkeep lapses.

• Service: Friendly, helpful reception staff are the most consistent strength across booking sites.

• Amenities: Free Wi-Fi, garden courtyard, terrace and 24-hour reception; breakfast is available.

• Fees and surprises: Check breakfast inclusion and confirm parking arrangements; booking sites disagree about checkout time.
