Axel's take: 7.4/10

A practical airport stopover with friendly staff, but uneven room comfort. a simple 2-star hotel with a pool near Cartagena’s airport, scored for what it is.

Ayenda Cartagena Blue 1804 is a simple 2-star hotel in Crespo, best approached as an affordable airport stopover rather than a historic-center base. Booking.com and Expedia guests regularly praise the helpful staff, nearby restaurants and walkable airport access. Air-conditioned rooms with private bathrooms cover the basics, and the outdoor pool is a useful extra at this level. It’s a good pick for a short stay if convenience matters more than polish.

The compromises are in the rooms: several guests describe hard mattresses, damp or musty smells, and noise around the central pool. Cleanliness earns generally positive ratings, but individual experiences vary. Cold showers recur in reviews, and recent Expedia guests report unreliable Wi-Fi. We’d skip it for a quiet, comfort-focused holiday or a trip centered on exploring the old town on foot.

• Best for: budget airport stopovers; short stays with pool time; travelers happy with basic rooms

• Watch out for: hard beds and musty rooms reported; pool-area noise; cold showers and inconsistent Wi-Fi

• Location: Crespo location within walking distance of the airport, beach and restaurants; outside the historic center.

• Rooms: Basic air-conditioned rooms with private bathrooms; size and mattress comfort vary.

• Cleanliness: Generally positive overall ratings, tempered by repeated dampness and occasional cleaning complaints.

• Service: Friendly, helpful reception staff are one of the most consistent positives.

• Amenities: Outdoor pool, children’s pool, Wi-Fi and laundry; upper floors require stairs.

• Fees and surprises: Laundry costs extra; confirm late arrival directly because published check-in information conflicts.
