#2 of 4 hotels in Shelburne Road by Axel's take. Shelburne Road is #4 of 5 places to stay in Burlington. The best hotels in Shelburne Road, ranked · Where to stay in Burlington

Axel's take: 7.8/10

Roomy suites and helpful staff make this practical, but interiors need attention. a simple all-suite hotel on South Burlington’s Shelburne Road, scored for what it is.

Smart Suites is a simple all-suite hotel that makes more sense for extra space than stylish surroundings. We'd consider it for families or longer stays: kitchenettes, complimentary hot breakfast and free parking cover useful basics. Recent Expedia guests repeatedly praise spacious, clean rooms and friendly staff, and its overall ratings remain solid. It's a practical base for exploring Burlington by car rather than stepping straight into downtown.

The trade-off is uneven upkeep. Tripadvisor and Google reviewers describe worn carpeting and stale smells, and a September 2026 Expedia guest still reported hallway odors and tired interiors despite exterior improvements. That's not the whole picture—other recent guests were very satisfied—but we'd skip it if dated surroundings or musty smells would spoil your stay. Exterior work was scheduled to finish September 30, 2026; confirm completion rather than assuming the renovation refreshed the rooms.

  • Best for: families wanting extra space; longer stays with kitchenette needs; travelers exploring by car

  • Watch out for: worn interiors and recurring odor complaints; not a walk-out downtown location; exterior renovation completion needs confirmation

  • Location: On Shelburne Road, about four miles from Church Street Marketplace; better suited to driving.

  • Rooms: Spacious suites with kitchenettes are the draw; recent guests still describe some tired interiors.

  • Cleanliness: Recent praise outweighs complaints overall, but worn carpets and stale odors recur across sites.

  • Service: Helpful, friendly staff are a consistent strength in recent Expedia reviews.

  • Amenities: Complimentary hot breakfast, Wi-Fi, parking and an exercise room cover the practical basics.

  • Fees and surprises: Dogs incur an extra charge; exterior improvements had a September 30, 2026 target, with completion unconfirmed.
