A strong waterfront base, especially with a lake view, but extras weaken the value. a renovated, full-service mid-range hotel beside Burlington’s waterfront, scored for what it is.

Hotel Champlain is a renovated, full-service mid-range hotel whose strongest feature is its setting: Lake Champlain across the street, with the waterfront and Church Street within walking distance. It’s a strong pick for exploring Burlington without driving everywhere. Recent Expedia guests repeatedly praise clean, comfortable rooms, welcoming staff and lake views; Tripadvisor guests also appreciate the floor-by-floor coffee pantries and refreshed common spaces.

The catch is that you pay for the location without getting a complete resort experience. The hotel confirms there is no swimming pool, and Expedia lists the hot tub as closed, despite older listings suggesting otherwise. A mandatory destination charge and separate parking charges weaken the value. Some guests also find bathrooms tight and front-desk service uneven. We’d choose a lake-view room here for a city break, but skip it if swimming or an extras-included stay matters most.

• Best for: couples booking a lake-view room; walkable Burlington city breaks; waterfront and bike-path exploring

• Watch out for: no swimming pool; hot tub closed; mandatory destination charge and paid parking; some tight bathrooms and uneven check-in service

• Location: Across from the waterfront, with Church Street, restaurants and the bike path within walking distance.

• Rooms: Refreshed rooms earn praise for comfort and lake views; some bathrooms feel cramped.

• Cleanliness: Recent verified Expedia reviews are predominantly positive about room and property cleanliness.

• Service: Staff friendliness is a recurring strength, though check-in and problem handling can be inconsistent.

• Amenities: Restaurants, floor beverage pantries, a gym and outdoor sauna; no pool or airport shuttle.

• Fees and surprises: Mandatory destination and service charges, separate garage parking, and breakfast generally extra.
