Axel's take: 8.2/10

A strong pick for spacious studios, rather than a polished full-service hotel. a mid-range aparthotel near Puerto Madero and San Telmo, scored for what it is.

Almarena Madero Urbano is a mid-range aparthotel near Puerto Madero, not a waterfront luxury hotel. It's a strong pick if you value space: studios have kitchenettes, work areas and large windows, and Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise their comfort, cleanliness and helpful staff. The gym is another strength. Recent guests also describe an improved breakfast setup following changes to the lobby and dining area.

The trade-off is an apartment-building feel, with shared facilities rather than an exclusive hotel environment. Booking.com's Wi-Fi ratings lag behind its strong room scores, while some recent guests report shower-drainage problems and inconsistent pool or spa upkeep. Breakfast isn't included in every booking, and parking costs extra. We'd choose it for a comfortable city base or longer stay, but skip it if flawless wellness facilities or full-service luxury are priorities.

• Best for: longer stays with kitchenette convenience; couples wanting spacious rooms; visitors exploring San Telmo and Puerto Madero

• Watch out for: Wi-Fi is a relative weak point; shared pool and spa facilities; breakfast inclusion varies

• Location: Near San Telmo and a short walk from Puerto Madero's waterfront; the official address is Azopardo 780.

• Rooms: Generously sized studios with kitchenettes and work areas; some guests report shower-drainage issues.

• Cleanliness: Strong overall feedback, especially for rooms, despite occasional complaints about shared areas.

• Service: Helpful, friendly staff are a recurring positive across recent reviews.

• Amenities: Outdoor pool, well-liked gym, spa and restaurant; the official site restricts gym and spa access to over-16s.

• Fees and surprises: Parking and transfers cost extra; check breakfast inclusion and pool availability, following works scheduled to end July 14, 2026.
