Axel's take: 7.5/10

Generous suites and welcoming staff, but upkeep still needs attention. a mid-range all-suite hotel near Birmingham Zoo, scored for what it is.

This mid-range all-suite hotel is a good pick for families who want space and included extras rather than downtown walkability. Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the roomy suites, friendly staff and breakfast; the complimentary evening reception adds value. Hilton also lists an indoor pool and fitness center.

The catch is consistency. Despite a renovation announced in 2025, guests in 2026 still describe dated areas, bathroom faults and occasional housekeeping misses, alongside plenty of clean, comfortable stays. We'd choose it for the suite layout and hospitality, not a reliably polished finish. Parking costs extra, and Hilton says there is no airport shuttle. Skip it if spotless upkeep or a car-free city break is your priority.

• Best for: families wanting separate living space; travelers who value breakfast and evening extras; visitors exploring Birmingham by car

• Watch out for: uneven bathroom maintenance and housekeeping; paid parking; no airport shuttle

• Location: Near the zoo and botanical gardens; Hilton places downtown and UAB about three miles away.

• Rooms: Spacious suites are a recurring strength, but recent guests still report worn areas and bathroom faults.

• Cleanliness: Mostly positive recent feedback, with several housekeeping misses preventing an unqualified recommendation.

• Service: Friendly, helpful staff earn consistent praise across Tripadvisor, Expedia and Loc8NearMe reviews.

• Amenities: Included made-to-order breakfast and evening reception, plus an indoor pool, gym and Ruth's Chris restaurant.

• Fees and surprises: Self-parking and pets carry charges; the catalog's free parking and airport shuttle claims are outdated.
