Axel's take: 8.1/10

Friendly staff and a handy Homewood location outweigh dated touches and extra charges. a practical suburban 3-star near Samford University and Brookwood hospital, scored for what it is.

This suburban 3-star Courtyard is a strong pick for Samford University visits, nearby hospital appointments and straightforward business trips. Expedia and Booking.com guests repeatedly praise clean, comfortable rooms and welcoming staff; Tripadvisor feedback also singles out the service. It delivers the mid-range basics well, with nearby shopping and dining, a Bistro, a gym and a seasonal outdoor pool. Management says the lobby was renovated in 2025, though some guests still find the hotel dated.

The main catch is what isn't included: parking costs extra, breakfast isn't complimentary, and Marriott lists housekeeping every other day. The suburban setting also makes this a less convenient choice for a downtown-focused trip without a car. We'd choose it for practical comfort and helpful people, not fresh design or an all-in stay.

• Best for: Samford University visitors; Brookwood hospital visits; business travelers with a car

• Watch out for: paid parking and breakfast; some dated interiors; every-other-day housekeeping

• Location: Convenient for Samford and Brookwood hospital, with shopping and dining nearby; not downtown.

• Rooms: Generally comfortable and clean, but some guests find the interiors dated.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength across Expedia and Booking.com guest feedback.

• Service: Friendly, helpful staff earn repeated praise across several review sites.

• Amenities: Bistro, fitness center and seasonal outdoor pool; no indoor pool or hotel shuttle.

• Fees and surprises: Parking and breakfast cost extra; pet fees apply, and housekeeping is every other day.
