A strong Eixample base with helpful staff, a rooftop pool and room-category caveats. a compact 4-star city hotel in Eixample, scored for what it is.

Hotel America Barcelona is a compact 4-star in Eixample, and we'd pick it for a comfortable sightseeing base rather than a luxury escape. Booking.com and Expedia guests consistently praise the cleanliness, comfortable beds and helpful staff. Restaurants surround the hotel, Passeig de Gràcia is within walking distance, and the rooftop bar and small pool give it an appealing extra beyond the basics.

Choose your room carefully: the hotel's entry-level Sweet Dreams category is explicitly an interior room, and smaller rooms attract mixed reactions. Recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests also mention street or corridor noise, though it isn't everyone's experience. The pool is better for cooling off than swimming lengths; confirm seasonal availability. We'd skip it if generous space, an outside view or dependable silence are priorities.

• Best for: couples on sightseeing breaks; restaurant-focused travelers; solo city explorers

• Watch out for: entry-level rooms face inward; some street and corridor noise; small pool with seasonal availability

• Location: Walkable Eixample setting near restaurants, Passeig de Gràcia and metro connections.

• Rooms: Comfortable beds earn praise; size and outlook vary, with interior Sweet Dreams rooms.

• Cleanliness: Strong overall feedback across Booking.com, Expedia and Tripadvisor.

• Service: Friendly, helpful reception and rooftop staff are recurring strengths.

• Amenities: Rooftop bar, small outdoor pool, buffet breakfast, gym and sauna; reserve gym and sauna ahead.

• Fees and surprises: City tax is collected at the property; breakfast may cost extra, and nearby parking is paid.
