Axel's take: 7.7/10

Choose it for effortless transport and good value, not modern rooms. a large, old-school 4-star directly connected to the Skytrain, scored for what it is.

Asia Hotel Bangkok is a large, old-school 4-star whose strongest selling point is its direct connection to Ratchathewi BTS. We'd choose it for a practical shopping-and-sightseeing stay: Siam is close, rooms are generally spacious, and recent Expedia and Trip.com guests repeatedly praise cleanliness, breakfast and convenience. Pools, a gym and several dining options make it more useful than a basic city base.

The refreshed lobby sets expectations that the bedrooms don't consistently meet. Across sites, guests still describe tired furnishings and worn corridor carpets, while reception earns both praise and complaints about handling problems. Management's April 2026 update acknowledged that guest-room upgrades remained necessary; don't assume a renovated public area means a renovated bedroom. It's good value if transport matters more than style. We'd skip it for a polished four-star escape, and check the exact room category before booking.

• Best for: Skytrain-based sightseeing; value-minded shoppers; travelers wanting spacious rooms

• Watch out for: dated bedrooms and corridor carpets; uneven reception service; some room categories have no windows

• Location: Direct Ratchathewi BTS connection, close to Siam shopping and nearby local dining.

• Rooms: Generally spacious but often dated; check window provision and refurbishment status.

• Cleanliness: Recent feedback is mostly positive about rooms, with recurring criticism of worn corridor carpets.

• Service: Many guests praise helpful staff, but reception and problem handling are less consistent.

• Amenities: Pools, gym, spa and dining options; breakfast is frequently praised.

• Fees and surprises: Expedia lists a breakage deposit; breakfast and extra beds can cost extra.
