Axel's take: 8.3/10
A strong family base with useful kitchens, helpful staff and some dated edges. A practical 3-star condo-and-cabin resort above downtown Banff, scored for what it is.
Tunnel Mountain Resort is a practical 3-star collection of condos, cabins and suites above downtown Banff. It's a strong pick for families and friends who want cooking facilities and room to spread out rather than full-service resort polish. Recent Expedia, Booking.com and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise the spacious accommodation, generally clean rooms and helpful staff. Free parking and local Roam bus passes make the hillside setting easier to manage.
The trade-off is uneven polish: guests still mention tired furnishings and appliances, while the small indoor pool disappoints some. Air conditioning is advertised in Superior Suites, so don't assume your condo or cabin has it. We'd choose it for a self-catering mountain trip, but skip it if you want downtown restaurants on your doorstep, consistently modern interiors or substantial swimming facilities.
-
