Axel's take: 8.1/10
A comfortable Banff base with useful extras, but dated rooms and no on-site dining. A traditional 3-star mountain lodge on Banff Avenue, scored for what it is.
Rundlestone Lodge is a traditional 3-star mountain lodge, and we'd pick it for practical comforts rather than fresh design. Expedia and Booking.com guests generally praise clean, spacious rooms and helpful staff, while recent Tripadvisor reviews reinforce its quieter setting. Free underground parking, local Roam bus passes, an indoor pool and a hot tub make it a strong base for families and mountain outings.
The trade-offs are dated decor, a roughly 15–20-minute walk to downtown dining, and no on-site restaurant or breakfast service. Choose your room carefully: the hotel says Standard rooms face the indoor pool and have windows that do not open, rather than outdoor views. The garage also has a low clearance. We'd skip it if modern interiors, breakfast downstairs or parking a tall vehicle are priorities.
