Axel's take: 7.8/10

A handy downtown apartment base, provided nightlife noise won’t spoil your stay. A practical mid-range serviced-apartment hotel in Auckland’s CBD, scored for what it is.

Quest on Queen is a practical mid-range apartment hotel, and a good pick if location and self-catering matter more than polished interiors. Its one-bedroom apartments have kitchens, laundry facilities, separate living areas and balconies. Recent Expedia guests repeatedly praise cleanliness, helpful staff and the convenience of walking to Commercial Bay, the waterfront and Britomart. It makes particular sense for longer stays or a city break without a car.

The main compromise is sleep: nightclub and street noise recur across review sites, so don’t assume a high floor guarantees quiet. Some guests also describe tired interiors. The property says its lift renovation finished in May 2026; arrange late arrival ahead because reception hours are limited. We’d choose it for apartment practicality, but skip it for a quiet retreat or full-service hotel experience.

• Best for: Couples wanting a central apartment; Longer self-catering stays; Car-free city breaks

• Watch out for: Late-night bar and street noise; Some tired interiors; Limited reception hours

• Location: Lower Queen Street puts shops, Britomart and the waterfront within easy walking distance.

• Rooms: One-bedroom apartments offer separate living space, kitchens, laundry facilities and balconies; condition draws some criticism.

• Cleanliness: Recent Expedia feedback is strongly positive, despite occasional criticism elsewhere.

• Service: Recent guests frequently praise helpful staff; coordinate after-hours check-in in advance.

• Amenities: Free Wi-Fi and in-apartment laundry are useful; Quest lists gym access off-site, not an in-house gym.

• Fees and surprises: Parking is paid and off-site; breakfast costs extra. The property reports lift renovation completed in May 2026.
