Axel's take: 8.3/10

A strong Takapuna base for clean rooms, comfortable beds and easy parking. a simple 3-star motel in walkable Takapuna, scored for what it is.

Anzac Court is a straightforward 3-star motel in Takapuna, and we'd pick it for practical comfort rather than polished interiors. Tripadvisor and Booking.com guests repeatedly praise the cleanliness, comfortable beds and walkable location; recent Expedia reviews reinforce that picture. Free parking, air conditioning and kitchen facilities make it a useful base for North Shore visits, with shops, restaurants and the beach within walking distance.

The main compromise is condition: several guests describe tired units, particularly kitchens and bathrooms, despite the official site's undated refurbishment claims. Some guests also report noise from neighboring rooms or upstairs movement, though many find it quiet. There's no elevator, and arrivals after the standard 6:30pm check-in cutoff need arranging. It's a strong pick for a practical stay; we'd skip it for contemporary finishes or round-the-clock service.

• Best for: North Shore visits with a car; families wanting kitchen facilities; walkable Takapuna stays

• Watch out for: dated kitchens and bathrooms in some units; occasional noise between units; limited reception hours and no elevator

• Location: Walkable to Takapuna shops, dining and beach; a North Shore base rather than a downtown stay.

• Rooms: Comfortable beds and air conditioning; studios and apartments offer different kitchen setups.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength across Booking.com, Tripadvisor and recent Expedia reviews.

• Service: Friendly, helpful staff are frequently praised; late arrivals need advance arrangements.

• Amenities: Free parking and Wi-Fi, kitchen facilities and accessible ground-floor options.

• Fees and surprises: Expedia lists a credit-card surcharge; upstairs apartments have stair access only.
