#8 of 9 hotels in Monastiraki & Psyri by Axel's take. Monastiraki & Psyri is #1 of 9 places to stay in Athens. The best hotels in Monastiraki & Psyri, ranked · Where to stay in Athens

Axel's take: 8.4/10

A dependable sightseeing base with helpful staff and Acropolis views from the roof. a straightforward 3-star city hotel in Psiri, scored for what it is.

Arion is a straightforward 3-star in Psiri, and we'd pick it for a practical Athens city break. Tripadvisor and Expedia guests consistently praise the clean rooms, helpful reception team and walkable location, roughly five minutes from Monastiraki metro. Breakfast is included, and the seventh-floor terrace delivers the standout extra: an Acropolis view without needing to book a view room. It's good value for travelers spending most of their time exploring.

The compromises are mainly space and surroundings. Standard rooms can feel small, and guests describe some compact or awkwardly arranged bathrooms. The graffiti-covered side street looks scruffier than the hotel's interior, although recent accounts generally find the location convenient. Breakfast earns mostly positive feedback rather than universal enthusiasm. We'd skip it if spacious rooms or a polished neighborhood matter more than location and friendly service.

  • Best for: value-minded city-break travelers; sightseers using the metro; couples and solo travelers

  • Watch out for: compact standard rooms and bathrooms; scruffy-looking approach street; Acropolis room views require the right category

  • Location: Walkable Psiri base near restaurants and Monastiraki metro; the immediate street can look run-down.

  • Rooms: Simple, comfortable accommodation; standard rooms can be small, while selected superior rooms have Acropolis views.

  • Cleanliness: Consistently positive across recent Tripadvisor, Expedia and Trip.com guest accounts.

  • Service: Helpful, friendly reception is a recurring strength, including assistance arranging transport.

  • Amenities: Included breakfast buffet, free Wi-Fi, bar, two elevators and a seventh-floor viewing terrace.

  • Fees and surprises: Expedia lists a seasonal accommodation tax collected at the property; transfers and nearby parking cost extra.
