#7 of 9 hotels in Monastiraki & Psyri by Axel's take. Monastiraki & Psyri is #1 of 9 places to stay in Athens. The best hotels in Monastiraki & Psyri, ranked · Where to stay in Athens

Axel's take: 8.4/10

A strong sightseeing base with helpful staff and rooftop views, but compact rooms. A good-value 3-star beside Athens’ central market, scored for what it is.

Athens Center Square is a straightforward 3-star beside the central market, and a strong pick for sightseeing without paying for luxury. Monastiraki metro is roughly five minutes away on foot, and the rooftop terrace and bar deliver Acropolis views. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the helpful reception team, clean rooms and included breakfast; Booking.com’s strong overall ratings support that picture. We’d choose it for a short, walking-heavy city break.

The trade-offs are mostly space and polish: several guests describe small bedrooms and tight bathrooms, with some dated fittings. The entrance opens onto a working market rather than a polished hotel district, and not every room has an attractive outlook. Book a specified Acropolis-view category if that matters. We’d skip it if spacious rooms or a quiet, refined setting are priorities.

  • Best for: Value-minded city-break travelers; Sightseeing on foot; Travelers using the airport metro

  • Watch out for: Compact bedrooms and bathrooms; Busy working-market setting; Room views vary by category

  • Location: Beside the central market, roughly five minutes’ walk from Monastiraki metro and convenient for central sights.

  • Service: Helpful, friendly reception staff are one of the most consistently praised strengths.

  • Amenities: Included buffet breakfast, free Wi-Fi and an Acropolis-view rooftop terrace and bar.

  • Fees and surprises: Seasonal accommodation tax is collected at the property; no on-site parking, and cribs and late checkout cost extra.
