Axel's take: 8.4/10

A strong budget base with clean rooms, helpful staff and useful extras. A budget, motel-style hotel on Tunnel Road, scored for what it is.

This Best Western is a budget, motel-style hotel, and a strong pick for exploring Asheville by car without paying for a downtown address. Recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise clean, comfortable rooms, helpful staff and a substantial breakfast. Free parking, in-room microwaves and fridges, and an outdoor pool make it practical for families and road-trippers. We'd choose it for straightforward comfort and good value rather than atmosphere.

The trade-offs are the roadside setting and exterior room entrances. There's no elevator to the second floor, so request a ground-floor room if stairs are a problem. Some guests report neighboring-room or traffic noise, although many describe quiet stays. We'd skip it if you want downtown dining and nightlife on your doorstep, or prefer an indoor-corridor hotel.

Best for: Budget-conscious travelers with a car; Families on road trips; Dog owners
Watch out for: No elevator to second-floor rooms; Exterior room entrances; Possible traffic or neighboring-room noise
Location: A practical Tunnel Road base for driving to downtown, Biltmore and the Parkway—not a downtown walking location.
Rooms: Simple, generally comfortable rooms with microwaves and fridges; access is via exterior corridors.
Cleanliness: Clean rooms are a consistent strength in recent guest feedback.
Service: Friendly, helpful staff earn repeated praise across review sites.
Amenities: Complimentary hot breakfast, outdoor pool, fitness center, Wi-Fi and self-parking.
Fees and surprises: Dogs incur an additional charge; request ground-floor accommodation if you cannot manage stairs.
