Axel's take: 8.2/10

Warm service and African character make this a strong airport-side base. an independent, African-themed 4-star near Accra’s airport, scored for what it is.

The African Regent is an independent, African-themed 4-star near the airport and Accra Mall. We’d pick it for welcoming staff, distinctive decor and practical convenience rather than cutting-edge luxury. Guest ratings are consistently positive across Tripadvisor, Booking.com and Expedia, with helpful service, comfortable rooms and the breakfast buffet standing out. The outdoor pool, spa and complimentary airport shuttle round out a useful business or short-stay base.

The weaker point is room upkeep: some guests describe tired corridors, air-conditioning problems and sound carrying between rooms. Construction noise was reported in November and December 2025; whether that work continues is unconfirmed, so ask before booking. Breakfast inclusion also needs checking. It’s a strong pick for travelers who prioritize hospitality and airport access; we’d skip it if immaculate modern interiors or reliably quiet rooms are essential.

• Best for: business travelers; short stays near the airport; travelers who enjoy African-inspired decor

• Watch out for: uneven room upkeep and air-conditioning; noise between rooms; confirm status of previously reported construction

• Location: Convenient for the airport and Accra Mall, rather than a beach-focused stay.

• Rooms: Generally comfortable, with some reports of tired finishes, air-conditioning issues and noise transfer.

• Cleanliness: Strong overall cleanliness ratings, though occasional detailed housekeeping lapses appear.

• Service: Warm, helpful staff are the clearest recurring strength across guest-review sources.

• Amenities: Outdoor pool, spa, gym, restaurant and complimentary airport shuttle; arrange pickup ahead.

• Fees and surprises: Expedia lists an incidental deposit; breakfast and late checkout may cost extra.
