Axel's take: 7.2/10

Choose it for the grounds and friendly staff, not polished four-star rooms. an aging 4-star seaside resort and conference hotel, scored for what it is.

La Palm is an aging 4-star seaside resort whose strongest assets are its landscaped grounds, large pool and Ghanaian dining. Chalet-style accommodation gives it a more spread-out feel than a city business hotel. Recent Expedia and Trip.com guests repeatedly praise welcoming staff and clean rooms, while Tripadvisor is more mixed. It's a reasonable pick for travelers who want outdoor space and can accept dated interiors.

The recurring weakness is upkeep: tired furnishings and uneven maintenance fall short of convincing four-star comfort, and service can be slow. Don't assume effortless private-beach access; guests describe controlled access, and adjoining beachfront structures were demolished in October 2026, with restoration announced. A June guest also reported the advertised spa closed; confirm reopening before booking. We'd skip it for a polished luxury break or a trip centered on easy beach access.

• Best for: travelers prioritizing grounds and pool time; conference guests; visitors interested in Ghanaian dining

• Watch out for: dated rooms and uneven maintenance; controlled beach access and recent beachfront clearance; spa reopening not confirmed

• Location: Seaside in La, near Labadi Beach; guest reports caution against assuming unrestricted beach access.

• Rooms: Chalet-style rooms offer practical comfort, but dated interiors and maintenance complaints recur.

• Cleanliness: Recent reviews mostly praise cleanliness, though Tripadvisor includes some sharply negative exceptions.

• Service: Friendly staff are a consistent strength; response times and service execution are less reliable.

• Amenities: Large outdoor pool, children's pool, gym, casino and dining; a June 2026 guest reported the spa closed.

• Fees and surprises: Confirm breakfast and transfers: the official site describes inclusions, while Expedia lists charges; beachfront clearance occurred in October 2026.
