#7 of 8 hotels in Grand Rapids North & Walker by Axel's take. Grand Rapids North & Walker is #2 of 5 places to stay in Grand Rapids. The best hotels in Grand Rapids North & Walker, ranked · Where to stay in Grand Rapids

Axel's take: 6.5/10

A workable budget stop, but tired rooms make it a qualified pick. a basic 2-star roadside hotel in Walker, off I-96, scored for what it is.

This basic 2-star in Walker makes most sense for a short, car-based stay rather than a downtown getaway. Free parking, included breakfast and an indoor pool give it useful budget-hotel basics. Recent Expedia guests often praise clean rooms and helpful staff, while a November 2025 Tripadvisor guest singled out attentive breakfast service. We'd consider it for a practical overnight with modest expectations.

The trade-off is consistency. Guests on Tripadvisor and Expedia describe dated rooms, and summer 2026 Trip.com reviews include worn beds, plumbing trouble and housekeeping misses alongside clean, quiet stays. Breakfast also divides opinion. There is no elevator, so request the ground floor if stairs are difficult. We'd skip it if fresh interiors, reliably thorough cleaning or a walkable downtown location matter most.

  • Best for: budget travelers with a car; short roadside stays; visitors to Meijer headquarters

  • Watch out for: dated rooms and uneven upkeep; inconsistent housekeeping; no elevator

  • Location: Convenient off I-96 near Meijer headquarters; plan to drive to downtown attractions.

  • Rooms: Basic and dated; recent feedback mixes comfortable stays with worn beds and maintenance issues.

  • Cleanliness: Many recent guests report clean rooms, but housekeeping misses remain a meaningful concern.

  • Service: Recent praise for helpful front-desk and breakfast staff, though experiences are not uniformly positive.

  • Amenities: Free breakfast, Wi-Fi and parking; indoor pool and hot tub receive recent guest praise.

  • Fees and surprises: Two stories without an elevator; the official policy prohibits pets except service animals.
