Axel's take: 8.9/10
A strong Charleston splurge for polished rooms, attentive staff and a walkable location. a grand, full-service 5-star overlooking Marion Square, scored for what it is.
Hotel Bennett is a grand, full-service 5-star on King Street overlooking Marion Square, and we'd shortlist it for a celebratory Charleston weekend. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the clean, spacious rooms, comfortable beds and welcoming staff; the concierge attracts particularly consistent compliments. The heated rooftop pool, spa, champagne bar and patisserie give it substance beyond its ornate interiors.
The trade-offs are mostly about expectations at this level. Some guests find dining expensive for what arrives, and occasional restaurant-service delays interrupt an otherwise strong hospitality picture. The rooftop pool is small rather than resort-sized, while valet parking adds another charge. We'd choose it for a comfortable, well-supported city break, but skip it if expansive pool facilities or keeping extras modest are priorities.
