Questions families ask
Should we book two queens or two doubles?
Two queens give each sharing pair more sleeping room. Most options here offer queens, but La Quinta’s four-person room has two full-size doubles. Check the exact room category on your confirmation: some room descriptions use doubles loosely even when the hotel specifies queens. Four-person occupancy does not necessarily mean generous floor space.
Can we add a crib or rollaway to a room for four?
Do not assume there is room or permission. EXchange, Element, Holiday Inn Express Metrotown and English Bay Hotel do not offer rollaways. Several hotels list free cribs, but advance confirmation matters. Where rollaways are offered, permission in the two-queen category is often unclear; confirm occupancy and placement before relying on one.
Does a room for four always cost more than a room for two?
Not always. A two-queen room can be close to the cheapest two-person option, and sometimes less expensive on the same night. Larger suites need not carry a huge upgrade either. Compare the exact booking for both adults and both children, including their ages, then check breakfast coverage, parking and any extra-person charges.
Which Vancouver neighborhoods work best for families sharing one room?
Downtown and Coal Harbour work well for walking to shops, Waterfront Station and Canada Place. The West End suits English Bay and Stanley Park outings. Burnaby’s Metrotown offers practical SkyTrain access rather than downtown sightseeing on foot. North Vancouver adds a SeaBus crossing, while Richmond makes more sense for airport stays than a walking-based city break.
Can we get separate sleeping space without booking two rooms?
Yes. Carmana’s two-bedroom suite is one accommodation unit with a king, two twins, a living area, kitchen and two bathrooms. Rosellen’s one-bedroom suite separates the queen bedroom from the living-room sofa bed. Level’s studio has useful kitchen and laundry facilities, but its open layout does not provide a separate bedroom for children’s bedtime.
