Start with the streets between the Pantheon, Piazza Navona and Campo de’ Fiori. Churches, small lanes and café terraces make sightseeing part of everyday wandering rather than a series of journeys. Via dei Coronari and Via Giulia offer a gentler counterpoint to the big squares. This is the Rome many first-timers want outside their door.
- Best for
- first-time visitorstravelers without a carmuseums and culture
- Skip it if
- You want a metro station outside; You need reliably quiet square-facing surroundings

- Campo de’ Fiori is the livelier end; visitors report quieter sleeping streets west of Piazza Navona.
