The top convention choice, but confirm event entrances and use Union or West End instead of the closed Convention Center station.

West End is the historic warehouse side of Downtown: brick buildings, Western-wear shops and restaurants around Market and Record streets. Dealey Plaza, the Sixth Floor Museum and the Holocaust and Human Rights Museum make it a practical history base. The convention-center streets farther south feel more purpose-built for event arrivals than neighborhood wandering.
- Best for
- business trips and conventionstravelers on a budgetmuseums and culture
- Skip it if
- Construction disruption would spoil your stay; You want a lively neighborhood evening without planning
- Getting around
- JFK sights are walkable; West End offers all four DART lines and direct Orange service to DFW; use Union or West End instead of closed Convention Center station; DAL needs rail plus Route 5 or a taxi.
- After dark
- Market Street has dinner options, but don't expect the sustained evening activity of Uptown, especially away from restaurants and events.
